Hold on! Be clear
Right now, you are not here!
You are travelling back in time
Revisiting some ancient crime
Done to you, or by you
You are there, you are not here!
Hold on! Get clear!
Don't imagine some future fear
Come back to where you are
Right here, right now!
Wipe the sweat from your brow
Feel your hand on the plough
This poem was written by Liezle Scott, one of the most beautiful souls I am blessed to have in my life. I asked her to share why she wrote this poem, and how it helps her.
What inspired this poem?
When we constantly spend mental time in the past or the future, we do not see the opportunities right in front of us, and even worse, we do not see the Beauty all around, like the morning light from the bathroom window turning the shower droplets into flying diamonds! Or the funny and entertaining way that birds hop around on the pavement while you are waiting at a traffic light.
We cannot achieve anything in the past or the future as it is not real - when you think of the past or future, it's almost dreamlike, not real! The only reality is right now, in front of us, and it is also the only place or state where you can do the work and affect change on yourself, or the environment you find yourself in - so when you bring yourself back to the present, remind yourself that you have done much already (wiping the sweat from your brow) and there is still much to do! (feel your hand on the plough) But the work can ultimately only be done right here and right now, in the Present.
